The Arthonauts return: new album dedicated to the inventions that changed the world is out


Artonauts art cards are back. The fifth album is dedicated to the extraordinary feats of human ingenuity as seen through the lens of art. On newsstands from Feb. 20.

Coming to newsstands Feb. 20 is the fifth Artonauts sticker album, dedicated to the extraordinary feats ofhuman ingenuity as seen through the lens ofart. Art and Science - The Inventions that Changed the World will guide readers on a journey through history, discovering the exceptional feats of artists and scientists. Through the special lens of art, works, inventions and technology that are the result of human ingenuity will be presented, from the pyramids of ancient Egypt, through Brunelleschi’s dome, to the invention of the microscope, the telescope and the latest missions to space. The album has 100 pages and 100 works of art, including mosaics, paintings, sculptures and architecture, to be composed and discovered through 280 stickers. And it also contains 14 illustrations telling the story of the characters painted by artist Pietro Canepa. The collection is enhanced by 25 Twin Cards, pairs of twin cards to collect to play memory and delve into art and science while having fun.

Along with the Artonauts, the protagonists of this story are the architects, artists and scientists who have left their mark on human history. The album also aims to introduce the topic ofartificial intelligence applications, with the intention of provoking reflection in young readers.

There is also no shortage of special content: a QR code on the cover links to further insights and articles, games, riddles and quizzes engage readers in learning through play. Plus short videos of scientists, architects and artists who provide a deeper insight into their work, such as astrophysics expert Luca Perri, who shares the mysterious peculiarities of the universe and planets, and Paola Roccabianca, professor of molecular microbiology at Milan State University, who guides readers on a journey through extraordinary microscope images that highlight the complexity of life.

For its originality and quality, the project won the fourth edition of Fondazione Cariplo’s call for Cultural Innovation and the Piccolo Plauto 2022 prize as a project characterized by high pedagogical and educational quality.
