The first School of Higher Education on Urban Art, LUNETTA, is born in Mantua. Year ZERO. In fact, from October 12 to 17, 2020, the project organized by the cultural association Caravan SetUp will be held, thanks to the twinning between the Municipality of Mantua and the Municipality of Ravenna for the Virgil and Dante 4.0, New Stories Old Masters initiative.

The initiative is part of the cooperation between municipalities for the development and dissemination of youth social innovation interventions, promoted by Anci and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for the SINERGIE Call for Proposals: in particular, Mantua is collaborating with the Culture Department and the Youth Policies Department, Arci Fuzzy Youth Association, For.Ma (Formazione Mantova) and Pantacon Consortium. The classes will be in collaboration with the Turin-based association Il Cerchio e le Gocce.

LUNETTA. Anno ZERO intends to be an exclusive offer in the panorama of Italian artistic training and was created with the aim of providing a solid foundation for understanding the main issues of a still niche reality. The training aims to delve into theoretical, historical, conservation and legislative aspects related to urban art, along with more technical issues, such as archiving, communication, event organization and security. There will also be some educational outings designed to immerse students in the context of urban art.

Participation in the School of Advanced Training is limited to fifteen applicants and is free of charge.

Classes will be taught by a team of highly specialized teachers at the CreativeLab in Mantua, in the Lunetta neighborhood: a suburban area of the city that since 2016 has been at the center of an articulated process of redevelopment through urban art, thanks to the Without Frontiers festival. Lunetta in color. This year the festival will conclude the second part of its 5th edition right during the School Days. The students’ journey will thus be supplemented with direct experiences in the field, thanks to the opportunity to see artists Andrea Casciu and Kiki Skipi at work, engaged in creating the work of the event dedicated this year to the world of Alice in Wonderland. Eikasia, this is the title of the work, will in fact be a tribute to imagination, through which it is possible to transform the world and reality.

It will start with workshops for children, thanks to the collaboration between Caravan SetUp and Segni d’Infanzia: a collaboration designed to bring children and young people closer to street art through participation in a series of workshops and itinerant activities in the Lunetta neighborhood. In line with the themes of the 15th edition of SEGNI New Generations Festival, scheduled to take place in Mantua from October 31 to November 8, the aim is to explore the emotions related to the experience of confinement #innellapanciadellabalena in order to transform them into a vision of a new future. The workshop aimed at children ages 6 and up aims to create an emotional mapping of places to tell the story of the Lunetta community through the eyes and voices of the children who live there. The workshops are free, by reservation only. Registration by email to segreteria@segnidinfanzia.org
