From July 10 to August 30, the Belvedere Terrace at Villa Bardini in Florence will once again host “Cinema in Villa,” the summer film festival promoted and organized by Fondazione CR Firenze in collaboration with Fondazione Parchi Monumentali Bardini e Peyron. The program, curated bythe Musart Association and the Stensen Foundation, features fifty evenings of film screenings and meetings with directors at one of the Oltrarno’s most scenic spots overlooking the city of Florence.
Screenings will begin every evening at 9:15 p.m. Tickets will cost 5 euros, reduced to 3.50 euros for films included in the Cinema Revolution program, supported by the Ministry of Culture. The “Family Cinema” initiative will also return, scheduled every Thursday with free admission (reservation required). Screenings for audiences of all ages will include *How to Train Your Dragon*, *Unicorns*, *Jurassic World: Resurgence*, and *Moon the Panda*.
The lineup will alternate between the season’s biggest hits, new summer releases, and select films shown in their original language with Italian subtitles. The opening night is scheduled for Friday, July 10, with *Gioia mia* by Margherita Spampinato, winner of two 2026 David di Donatello Awards. On Tuesday, July 14, Paul Thomas Anderson’s *One Battle After Another* will be screened, while on Friday, July 24, Joachim Trier’s *Sentimental Value* will be shown in its original version with subtitles.
Two meetings with filmmakers are also scheduled. On Monday, July 13, director Federico Micali will introduce the screening of his documentary *Le chiavi di una storia – La comunità dell’Isolotto*, while on Saturday, August 1, Laura Samani will present her second feature film, *Un anno di scuola*.
Two evenings will also be dedicated to the exhibition *Firenze ’50 ’60 ’70*, on view through October 18 at Villa Bardini. The exhibition features photographs from the Foto Locchi Archive and traces three decades of the city’s history. Movie ticket holders can visit the exhibition at a 50% discount. The same ticket will also grant access to the Belvedere Terrace starting at 7:00 p.m. for an aperitif with a view of Florence, while the Villa Bardini Café will offer discounted rates for dinner to festival attendees.
The complete schedule is currently available through August 6, while the calendar of screenings scheduled for August 7–30 will be published at the end of July. The organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance through the event’s dedicated website: www.villabardini.it/cinema2026.
