Flashback doubles: for 9th edition, Turin fair opens new, large venue

For the 9th edition, Flashback, Turin's ancient, modern and contemporary art fair, is changing venues and moving to the Dogali Barracks, where it will double its space.

The appointment with Flashback, the ancient, modern and contemporary art fair, will be renewed this year, announcing the dates of its 9th edition: the 2021 fair will be held, in attendance, from November 4 to 7, 2021, as always in Turin, and with the great novelty of a change of venue. In fact, Flashback will no longer be hosted by the Pala Alpitour, but rather by the former Dogali Barracks, known as the Caserma di Via Asti, made available by CDP Immobiliare SGR (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group). In fact, Flashback will duplicate its exhibition spaces to better accommodate the many galleries and to give more scope to all those initiatives that connote the fair, all of which, moreover, are indicated by terms in English: Flashback special project, exhibition, lab, sound, storytelling, talk, video, food & drink.

The late 19th-century building, in eclectic taste, and currently named after Alessandro La Marmora, is located at 22 Via Asti. The new headquarters, centrally located just a 5-minute walk from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, maintains its original forms in terms of both planimetric distribution and the architectural solution of the facades, and is part of the widespread eclectic trend that uses marked neo-Gothic motifs for buildings of a military nature. The setting up of the spaces will be by architect Carlo Alberto de Laugier and will use the scenic backdrops of the structure in an unprecedented play of contrasts activated by the use of color, a peculiar characteristic of Flashback.

“This edition will be under the banner of BE BACK, the moment we hope will put us back on track,” says Ginevra Pucci, Director and Founder of Flashback together with Stefania Poddighe, “and the Dogali Barracks has the right dimensions to allow gallerists and the public to coexist safely. Moreover, for us, the link with the contemporary continues to be fundamental. Therefore, even more than in previous years, the theme, the image and the choice of this important and evocative venue will be an integral part of our narrative. We look forward, therefore, to unveiling in September all the contents as well as the list of galleries participating in this ninth edition.”

“Such a central location will also allow collectors and visitors to take even more advantage of the city and all the proposals of the Turin Art Week,” Stefania Poddighe emphasizes. “One element that remains unchanged, however, is the ’no time limitation’ formula of the galleries’ proposals. True to what is our motto and that is that art is all contemporary.” Until Sept. 15, galleries can apply to exhibit at the fair.
