The Sky-branded film 'Io Leonardo,' starring Luca Argentero as Leonardo da Vinci, is being released in September.
The film Io, Leonardo, dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, is coming to Italian cinemas on September 26: wearing the role of the Renaissance genius will be one of the best-known faces in Italian cinema, Luca Argentero. It is a film produced by Sky with Progetto Immagine, and distributed by Lucky Red. After its release in theaters, the film will be aired on Sky channels and will begin international distribution with True Colours.
I, Leoanrdo is fascinating tale of discovery of the man, the artist, the scientist and the inventor that intends to take the viewer on a never-before-seen, immersive experience into the mind of Leonardo da Vinci, with a look that promises to be far removed from stereotypes. The film has benefited from the scientific advice of one of Leonardo’s leading scholars, Pietro C. Marani, full professor of Modern Art History and Museology at the Milan Polytechnic. Art direction is by Cosetta Lagani, the script is by Sara Mosetti and Marcello Olivieri. It is directed by Jesus Garces Lambert, former director of “Caravaggio - the Soul and the Blood” (the most-watched art documentary at the cinema in Italy in 2018 and winner of the Golden Globe).
In the cast, in addition to Luca Argentero, engaged for the first time in a biographical art film, will be Angela Fontana as Cecilia Gallerani and Massimo De Lorenzo who plays Ludovico il Moro. The narrative voice is by Francesco Pannofino. The film I, Leonardo has received the Patronage of the National Committee for the Celebration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci and the Scientific Committee of the Palimpsest Milano Leonardo 500, as well as the Recognition of the European Year of Cultural Heritage. It has also obtained the Patronages of the City of Florence and the City of Milan and is produced with the participation of Bosch and collaboration with Artech Digital Cinema, Bottega Tifernate and the Leonardo da Vinci Experience Museum.
