New exhibition brings contemporary art to the most beautiful places in the Reggio Emilia Apennines

Curated by Francesca Baboni and Stefano Taddei, the review aims to enhance lesser-known places in the mountains of Reggio Emilia by supporting artists and taking contemporary art off the traditional circuits. In a historical moment characterized by distancing, the project intends to address sustainable and proximity tourism, lovers of nature and “slow” living, but also the inhabitants of the municipalities involved, invited by the works and site-specific installations to see the landscape with new eyes and to recover the historical memory of the places that belong to their everyday life.

In addition, as a side event to AltreterRE, the second edition of Message to Posterity. Art as Activism, curated by Nila Shabnam Bonetti. Along the Lighthouse Trail, which leads to theBig Bench in Ligonchio, a new artwork will be installed alongside those created in 2020, which will be restored for the occasion.

Part of the funds needed for the realization of AltreterRE will be raised through a crowdfunding campaign, carried out with the support of Emil Banca Credito Cooperativo on the IdeaGinger platform(www.ideaginger.it). People can join from March 9 to May 8, 2021, even contributing a symbolic amount. Rewards include having one’s name on the list of supporters, guided tours with curators, limited edition artist prints, one-off vinyl copies, and more.

AltreterRE, promoted by KAMart in residence APS and sponsored by the municipalities of Ventasso, Castelnovo ne’ Monti and Baiso, is realized with the contribution of Fondazione Manodori; technical partners Valico Terminus, Viridi Light Productions, Limelight Media. During the event, consistent with the progress of the health emergency, side events open to the public will be offered by Percorsi Entropici, which will be set in the places of the Apennines: the open space immersed in nature becomes a setting for a sound bath, practicing yoga or participating in a sensory workshop. A documentary produced and directed by Viridi Light Productions, a young startup from the area, will also be filmed.
