On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the original plaster cast of Antonio Canova’sAmore e Psiche (Cupid and Psyche ) will be exceptionally displayed at the Bailo Museum in Treviso on Feb. 13 and 14 afternoons. The sculptural group will be at the center of one of the as-yet-unfitted rooms of the New Bailo to allow all lovers to exchange a kiss or a promise in front of one of the works that most represents the feeling of love.

“We strongly believe in the romantic component of our Treviso,” said Mayor Mario Conte."Amore e Psiche, a simply unique work by Canova, thus goes to embellish the initiative that sees Treviso as the City of Lovers, involved and, in some ways, ’wrapped’ in the artistic heritage of our territory in dialogue with other excellences."

The work will be, from next May 14, among the masterpieces of the great exhibition Canova Gloria Trevigiana. From Classical Beauty to Romantic Ad, curated by Treviso Civic Museums director Fabrizio Malachin, and Giuseppe Pavanello and Nico Stringa.

"Treviso offers a preview of the major exhibition that will open in May, and it does so not coincidentally in the sign of love,“ commented Lavinia Colonna Preti, councillor for Cultural Heritage and Tourism of the City of Treviso. ”The thread that will be investigated in the exhibition will in fact be that of theromantic announcement found in the work of the great sculptor, in an exceptional setting such as that of the Bailo Museum."

For the Feb. 13 and 14 afternoon free admission for all lovers.
