In Bologna the solo exhibition Zigzagare nel tempo by Enzo Tinarelli, master mosaicist

Through July 31, the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna in Bologna is hosting the exhibition "Zigzagging in Time," a solo show by Enzo Tinarelli, one of the leading masters of contemporary mosaic, with works from the 1980s to the present.

Until July 31, theLegislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna in Bologna (at Viale Aldo Moro 50) is hosting the solo exhibition Zigzagare nel tempo by one of the greatest masters of contemporary mosaic, Ravenna-born Enzo Tinarelli (Alfonsine, 1951). The exhibition, curated by Sandro Malossini, displays mosaics as well as paintings, selected from different thematic cycles by the author ranging from the early 1980s to the present. Some unpublished works are also on display.

Since the 1980s, Tinarelli has taken his works, mostly mosaics, to numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad in public spaces and private galleries. His aesthetic interests, as can also be seen with the selection in the exhibition, range from the experimentation of pictorial to plastic languages, with particular and intense activity in the field of artistic mosaic, the latter developed in various areas of research: formative, applicative, experimental. Tinarelli has also organized specific conferences on the subject, as well as lectures on mosaic as a contemporary aesthetic re-possibility. Moreover, he collaborates with artists and designers on their mosaic projects. For example, in the 1990s he collaborated with theater director Ezio Cuoghi and Giorgio Celli on three experimental shows at the Video Arte center in Ferrara and the Physics Department of the same city.

Tinarelli currently lives between Carrara (in fact, he teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara), Ravenna, and periodically travels to Bordeaux, where he held an atelier near Arcachon between 1991 and 2021. He graduated from the State Institute of Mosaic Art in 1980 and then from the Ravenna Academy of Fine Arts in 1984. He has taught at various Institutes and Academies: since 1992 he has taught Ornamental Plastics and Mosaic at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, while from 1993 to 1996 he taught in Sassari, and from 2012 to 2017 he taught Mosaic Techniques at the Academy of Ravenna, where he created several mosaic projects of public works. Numerous art historians and critics have written about his work in personal and collective catalogs, articles, and reviews. He has held more than 50 solo exhibitions and more than 200 group exhibitions in various countries.
