Pisa, kicks off the exhibition "From Magritte to Duchamp," dedicated to "Great Surrealism." The preview photos

Preview photos of the exhibition 'From Magritte to Duchamp. 1929: Grand Surrealism from the Centre Pompidou', from October 11, 2018 to February 17, 2019 in Pisa, Palazzo Blu.

Opens tomorrow, Thursday, October 11, 2018, and runs through February 17, 2019, the exhibition From Magritte to Duchamp. 1929: Grand Surrealism from the Centre Pompidou, on view in Pisa’s Palazzo Blu. The exhibition displays a nucleus of about 150 works (including paintings, sculptures, drawings, Surrealist objects, drawings, collages, installations, auteur photographs and documents) from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, is dedicated to the events of the year 1929, of capital importance for the Surrealist movement, and is curated by Didier Ottinger, director of the Centre Pompidou and among the world’s leading experts on Surrealist art and, in particular, the art of Magritte.

For Palazzo Blu, this is the second collaboration with the Parisian museum: the first was in 2015, when the exhibition Modigliani et ses amis brought as many as 110,000 visitors to the halls of the Tuscan institute, making it one of the most well-attended exhibitions of that year. This time, works arrive from the Centre Pompidou that the museum is unlikely to deprive itself of: among the protagonists are artists such as Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, Giorgio De Chirico, Alberto Giacometti, Man Ray, Joan Miró, Yves Tanguy, Pablo Picasso and many others, in addition to René Magritte and Marcel Duchamp who appear in the title.

Visiting hours: Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays Sundays and holidays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (ticket office closes one hour earlier). Tickets: full 12 euros, reduced 10 euros, special reduced 5 euros. For all info you can visit the Palazzo Blu website or the surrealismopisa.it' target='_blank'>exhibition website. The catalog is published by Skira. Below is a selection of preview images from the exhibition rooms. For more detailed information and a selection of photos of the works, you can click on this link.
