An “exchange” between the National Archaeological Museum in Paestum and the National Archaeological Museum “Vito Capialbi” in Vibo Valentia is underway until October 7, 2018. The Calabrian museum, in the premises of the Norman Swabian Castle, is in fact exhibiting the Head of the Sele coming from Paestum: it is a bronze lost-wax sculptural work of considerable value. The exhibition will be accompanied by several events intended to enhance the important find, a bearded male head of uncertain date (scholars have proposed a chronological span between the second half of the 4th century B.C. and the Roman era, that is, between the second half of the 1st century B.C. and the first half of the 1st century A.D.
Instead, the most prestigious piece of the Vibonese museum left for Paestum: the Laminetta Aurea of Hipponion, on loan to the Campania museum for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Tomb of the Diver. It will be on display at the exhibition The Invisible Image.
