In Faenza, the Carlo Zauli Museum reopens to the public after long closure due to flooding

The Carlo Zauli Museum in Faenza reopens to the public on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, after a long period of closure due to renovations needed following the flood that hit it in May 2023. Through March 2, installations by Michele Guido and Namsal Siedlecki.

After the long period of closure due to the renovation work necessary following the flood that hit it on May 16, 2023, the Carlo Zauli Museum in Faenza announces its reopening to the public scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 4 to 9 p.m.

“This reopening would not have been possible without the generous help of all those - companies, entities and private citizens - who donated funds, advice, time, energy from last May to today and who continue to do so to help us complete a work that unfortunately is by no means fully completed,” reads the museum’s official Instagram page.

To mark the reopening, the Carlo Zauli Museum will exhibit temporary installations by Michele Guido and Namsal Siedlecki and the students who followed Michele Guido’s residency project until March 2, 2024. Michele Guido’s Mudfulness, through which the Carlo Zauli Museum won an important Call for Proposals from the Emilia-Romagna Region, is the result of a residency project embedded within the dramatic events that struck Emilia-Romagna in the flooding last May. Namsal Siedlecki’s Vasi project focuses on the theme of transformation and regeneration after the flood. Siedlecki’s sculpture will be transformed over the course in the exhibition by hosting a performance and workshop that will involve the local community and eventually become part of the museum’s contemporary art collection. The project was made possible through a collaboration between T.NUA and the Carlo Zauli Museum, a partnership that, in addition to last fall’s project, will continue with a residency in spring/summer 2024 with an international artist.

The museum will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m.; Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Sunday, Jan. 28, special opening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.
