Cellotex Rivoli 14, a work by Alberto Burri, granted on free loan by the Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini Collezione Burri, which is committed to the preservation and promotion of the artist’s production, has entered the Farnesina Collection. The work, created in 1991, has been placed in the Salone d’Onore on the second floor of the Farnesina, where foreign authorities are received and therefore where it will have maximum visibility. Cellotex Rivoli 14 is representative of one of the most mature phases of Alberto Burri’s production.

The Farnesina Collection, a contemporary art collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes about 700 works representative of the major protagonists of the Italian art scene of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a focus on the most current research and languages. Thanks to the formula of free loan for use, the Collection is constantly updated through a regular rotation of works, in collaboration with the main Italian museums, galleries and foundations.

In addition to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, the opening ceremony was attended by Stefano Valeri, a member of the Executive Committee of the Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini Collezione Burri and former professor at La Sapienza University, and Anna Mattirolo, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Farnesina Collection.

“Since the beginning of my mandate I have wanted to enhance, also with foreign guests, the Farnesina Collection: a real Italian Museum of Contemporary Art. We are working to promote it abroad as part of the cultural diplomacy action, but also to make it better known in Italy, expanding the possibilities for visits by the public to Rome,” Tajani commented.
