On The Wall, the street art project to bring joy back to the neighborhood hit by the Morandi Bridge

Until August 14, 2019, Genoa's Certosa neighborhood affected by the Morandi Bridge tragedy will be the site of the On The Wall street art project.

Until August 14, fifteen internationally renowned artists will take part in the Genoa City Council ’s On The Wall project to redevelop the Certosa neighborhood, at the Valpolcevera district affected by the Morandi Bridge tragedy.

Through a street art intervention, the artists will create works of art on ten facades of different buildings, involving some of the most important names on the international and national scene.
On The Wall ’s goal is to turn the gaze upward again, in a neighborhood that has been strongly affected by the events of the past year. An intervention that can positively change the perception of that area affected by the tragedy.

In addition, On The Wall intends tobe a unique and unprecedented performance for the whole city of Genoa, thanks to whichurban art can be admired in an open-air museum, usable by all.

Among the artists involved in the project are Dutch artist Zedz, who will work on the E-Distribuzione cabin along the Polcevera, Portuguese artist Pantonio, who will be active in the popular area of Via Certosa, and renowned Italian street artist Ozmo. Alongside the latter are already established young talents such as Agostino Iacurci, Gola Hundun, Geometric Bang, Rosk & Loste and again Greg Jager, Caktus & Maria and Antonello Macs. Important contribution will be that of the Genoese artists involved, from Christian Blef to Drina A12 & Giuliogol arriving to Tiler. The very young people will pateciperate a decorative marathon of the shutters scattered around the neighborhood.

A collective path that will directly involve the citizenry making them aware of the potential of the place. The Certosa neighborhood will not only be linked to the memory of a tragedy, but will be transformed into a path of enrichment out of the commonplace. A new identity, a new life that passes through artistic regeneration.

The theme chosen for the murals is joy in all its declensions.
