The Uffizi will open in the evening once a week until at least December

The Uffizi introduces evening openings. Once a week, every Tuesday until December 17, it will be possible to stay in the museum until 10 pm.

The Uffizi will open one evening a week until Dec. 17. The Florence museum will open its doors to the public with extended hours, every Tuesday, giving the public a chance to admire the Statues and Paintings Gallery at sunset. Every Tuesday until Dec. 17, the museum will remain open until 10 p.m. (last admission allowed at 8:30 p.m.). You can book your admission at: 055-294883 (operating daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) or online at the official Uffizi website/tickets or at the official “Opera Your preview” point of sale at Via Por Santa Maria 13r (open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

In addition to Tuesdays of special evening openings, there will also be other extraordinary ones scheduled on Mondays, which are ordinarily the Galleries’ weekly closing day: the initiative will affect the Uffizi and the Boboli Gardens, which will be open during ordinary hours on April 1 and 29, June 24 (the Feast of St. John, Florence’s patron saint) and December 30.

Director Simone Verde also announced that by May people will be able to enter the museum simply by showing a QR Code on their cell phones. Those who book their entry through the call center (055/294883) or through our website (Uffizi/tickets) will receive via email a code to download directly to their smartphone that will be their ticket to the museum without having to show a physical ticket. For tickets purchased in advance, until the new system comes into effect, the current rules provided for their validation will continue to apply.

“The dematerialization of the ticket,” the director explains, “will fluidize the entrance of visitors to the museum, going to be the first step toward freeing the Uffizi square from everything that clutters it. The goal is to make this place shine again so that it returns to what it was: the city’s living room and one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
