A video game is born that makes you follow the routes of the Phoenicians: Mediterranean 1200 BC

It is called 'Mediterranean 1200 BC' and it is a video game all about the Phoenicians: you can follow the routes of the ancient sailors and develop their settlements in the Mediterranean.

A video game is born to discover the history of the Phoenicians in the ancient Mediterranean. It is called Mediterranean 1200 BC: a new age and has been developed by Entertainment Game Apps, Ltd. as part of the European project TRAMES - smart TouRism Across the Mediterranean Sea. It is a strategic video game set in the ancient Mediterranean and focused on the maritime expansion of the Phoenician civilization. Players have the opportunity to follow the routes of ancient Phoenician sailors and discover the many cities and emporiums founded along the Mediterranean coast by Phoenicians, Etruscans, Greeks and Romans.

The aim of the game is to develop the Phoenician settlements by prospering their trading activities and moving resources across the Mediterranean, along specific routes and by means of transportation proposed according to historical fidelity. The game is currently available only in English, but soon the Italian version of Mediterranean will be available, enriched with important insights thanks to the involvement of some museum institutions scattered throughout the territory.

Mediterranean is one of the main results of the TRAMES project (based on the Phoenicians’ Route: an itinerary included since 2003 in the “Cultural Routes” program of the Council of Europe and recognized since 2016 by the World Tourism Organization, and which aims to promote cultural dialogue through the cultural and archaeological heritage of Mediterranean civilizations by following the ancient nautical and maritime routes), co-funded by the European Union under the COSME 2019-2021 program. Entertainment Game Apps, a company founded in 2014 with the idea of creating videogames for smartphones and tablets with a historical and cultural character, is one of the eight partners involved in the European project that aims to create an innovative tourism offer that enhances cultural heritage in five pilot areas in the Mediterranean basin.

The game will be officially presented on March 9 in Cyprus, but for those who want to play it, it is already available for download on the platforms.
