The Ministry of Culture is again joining the European Archaeology Days (EAG) in 2026, scheduled for June 12-14. The initiative sees the involvement of the Directorate General for Museums and the Directorate General for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape and is part of an international project coordinated by the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP - Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives), under the auspices of the French Ministry of Culture and under the patronage of the Council of Europe.
For the occasion, numerous Italian cultural venues will host activities dedicated to the enhancement of archaeological heritage and the dissemination of the work done by archaeologists. The program includes guided tours, workshops, excursions and other events aimed at the public, with the aim of fostering greater knowledge of the testimonies of the past and the professions engaged in their protection and study.
The initiatives will take place in the spirit that has characterized European Archaeology Days for years, an event that aims to maintain and strengthen the dialogue with visitors, universities, local authorities, associations and other actors active in the territories. The event is thus an opportunity to promote the dissemination of archaeological culture and encourage collaboration between institutions and local communities through a series of events distributed throughout the country.
