Doodle Dream, the world's largest hand drawing enters the Guinness Book of World Records

The world's largest drawing created by hand by a single artist has been created in Altomonte: Doodle Dream enters the Guinness Book of World Records.

Entering the Guinness Book of World Records is the world’s largest hand-drawn drawing created by a single person: the work is titled Doodle Dream and its author is Francesco Caporale, aka FRA!, an exponent of Italian doodle art, in collaboration with Xiaomi, a world leader in technology.

The huge drawing, on 568.47 square meters of surface area, was created in five days of intense work in the central square of the small village of Altomonte, inland Calabria, the artist’s own home town. Using only a black marker pen, FRA! created a large canvas filled with “doodles,” graphic strokes and essential contemporary representations. The entire design was also born from the inspiration of several users who uploaded their own image, photo or drawing to a special platform, Doodledream.it, created by Xiaomi, which the artist then incorporated within his work.

“Dreaming is the perfect ingredient on which art is based,” said FRA! "Dreamlike visions out of time and space that indulge in the free interpretation of our unconscious and our sensibility. That’s what doodle art is for me: improvisation and freedom. And with Doodle Dream we have underscored yet another fundamental value for contemporary society: that of community. So this world record has an even greater significance, and I couldn’t be happier about it!"

Doodle Dream will be donated by the artist and Xiaomi to the Municipality of Altomonte. It is the intention of the Municipal Administration to sell parts of the canvas for the purpose of raising funds to support local communities.
