A film about Leonardo da Vinci will be released soon, and it will be directed by British director Andrew Haigh, best known for the film Strangers (All of us strangers), which received no less than six BAFTA nominations in 2024 and one Golden Globe nomination. This was revealed by Variety magazine. The film will be produced by Universal Pictures and will tell the story of Leonardo’s life based on the biography by Walter Isaacson, a writer and journalist, former managing director of CNN and editor-in-chief of Time magazine, author in 2017 of the book Leonardo da Vinci.
Isaacson’s book, based on Leonardo’s notebooks as well as the work of scholars of the great Tuscan artist, was one of the best-selling books of 2017. More than 600 pages long, it leaves out no aspect of Leonardo’s life: it discusses the development of the Mona Lisa, his scientific experiments, as well as his homosexuality. According to reports by Variety, the idea of drawing an adaptation of Isaacson’s book had been circulating in Hollywood since its release: it seemed at one point that Paramount should produce it, even assigning a role to Leonardo DiCaprio, but in the end the ball would pass to Universal. Haigh will be both director and screenwriter on the film. And not much else is known for now....
