The Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and the Museo di San Marco present Angelico nel tempo, a series of meetings that accompanies the major exhibition Beato Angelico (open until January 25, 2026) with an articulated program of in-depth studies dedicated to the figure and legacy of the painter. The project interweaves art history, restoration, theology and contemporary interpretations, proposing a journey through the most significant places in the life and work of Fra’ Giovanni da Fiesole. Scholars, restorers, philosophers and artists will discuss his relevance and the universal value of his spiritual and artistic vision. All meetings are held in Italian and are free admission subject to availability.
The series opens on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. at the Museo di San Marco, in the Refectory, with a meeting featuring Carl Brandon Strehlke, Angelo Tartuferi and Paolo Bolpagni entitled Angelico 1955. The exhibition and the critofilm “Stile dell’Angelico” by Ragghianti. The event is held in collaboration with the Ragghianti Foundation of Lucca.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m., the Opificio delle Pietre Dure hosts the presentation of the restoration of the Franciscan Triptych, with Angelo Tartuferi, Caterina Toso and Marina Ginanni.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, at 5 p.m., at the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie in San Giovanni Valdarno, Carl Brandon Strehlke will give the lecture L’Annuncio in Angelico.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 4:30 p.m., at the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella (entrance from the facade), Andrea De Marchi will explore the theme From Guido di Pietro to Fra Giovanni da Fiesole: the years of Santa Maria Novella.
On Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m., in the Sala del Basolato in Fiesole, Carl Brandon Strehlke and Federico Tiezzi will dialogue on the video portrait of Fra’ Giovanni da Fiesole of the Order of Friars Preachers.
The series concludes on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 5:30 p.m., in the conference room of the National Institute for Renaissance Studies at Palazzo Strozzi, with Adriano Sofri, who will give the lecture L’Umanesimo di Angelico.
