Conversations on contemporary art with outstanding speakers organized by Fondazione CRC

Fondazione CRC organizes from mid-January 2021 cycle of conversations on contemporary art with outstanding speakers.

Starting January 13, 2021, five meetings with outstanding speakers dedicated tocontemporary art organized by the CRC Foundation will start. For five consecutive Wednesdays, webinar conversations during which topics ranging from the role of artists and those who promote art and culture in contemporary society to insights on the theme of light in art and philosophy will be addressed. Speakers include artists Olafur Eliasson and Renato Leotta. The program takes its cue from the new exhibitions E luce fu. Giacomo Balla, Lucio Fontana, Olafur Eliasson, Renato Leotta and William Kentridge. Breathing, set up in Cuneo and Alba, respectively. The events are organized in collaboration with Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea and Feliz comunicazione; links to access will be posted on the Fondazione CRC website. “With the start of the new year and looking forward to the reopening of the exhibitions when conditions allow,” says Fondazione CRC president Giandomenico Genta, “the rich program of online activities, promoted thanks to the collaboration of the Rivoli Castle, offers meetings with international artists and opportunities for in-depth analysis and cultural dissemination starting with the works on display in Cuneo and Alba.”

It will start on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 4:30 p.m. with Olafur Eliasson, one of the most famous contemporary artists and author of the work The sun has no money, on display in the exhibition And light was set up in the Monumental Complex of San Francesco in Cuneo. The artist will dialogue with Marcella Beccaria, chief curator and curator of the Castello di Rivoli collections and co-curator of the exhibition. The meeting will address the theme of a contemporary artist’s social engagement and the importance of conveying concepts related to humans’ relationship with nature through their work.

In preparation for the conference with the artist, Feliz communication will offer three webinars aimed at high school students: the meetings, held live online by Francesca Di Paolo, will be held on the mornings of January 11, 12 and 13. Each appointment will be reserved for a maximum of two classes: participation is free of charge and reservations must be made by writing to mostraelucefu@gmail.com. Webinars for schools will then continue in February, with meetings dedicated to Giacomo Balla, Lucio Fontana and how artists have treated the theme of light from pointillism to the present.

On Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 4:30 p.m., artist Renato Leotta will dialogue with Marianna Vecellio, curator of the Castello di Rivoli. The conversation will explore issues related to the work in the exhibition Sole, in which headlights from decommissioned cars illuminate specific details of the architecture and ancient decorations of the San Francesco Monumental Complex in Cuneo.

On Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 4:30 p.m. Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, director of the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art, will talk about the exhibition at the Church of San Domenico in Alba William Kentridge. Breathing. This will be followed by a talk by Andrea Viliani, head and curator of the Castello di Rivoli CRRI Research Center, who will explore the themes expressed by the South African artist by drawing on materials from the documentary exhibition From the Studio of William Kentridge, currently on view at the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea.

On Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m., Silvano Petrosino, professor of Theoretical Philosophy in the Department of Communication and Performing Arts at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, will offer a lecture on light and art that will take its starting point from Piccola metafisica della luce, a book that the professor published for Jaca Book in 2004 and that is currently being reprinted.

Finally, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on The Gallerist of the Future aimed at exploring the contemporary way of making art and alternative market circuits: from artists’ self-promotion, international exchanges, art residencies, engagement and direct dialogue with society. The founders of Cripta 747, a nonprofit art association of which Renato Leotta is a member, and painter Daniele Galliano will participate.
