In Liguria, people move to works, not vice versa: "Liguria of the Arts" kicks off

From June 30 to August 23, 2018, all of Liguria is the scene of 16 meetings of the 'Liguria of the Arts' program to discover local heritage.

An interesting cultural initiative starts in Liguria that, from June 30 to August 23, 2018, involves the entire region and aims to help everyone, inhabitants and tourists alike, discover the local heritage. The project is titled Liguria of the Arts and sees the artistic direction of Pino Petruzzelli, who declares how the idea was born “from the need and the will to restore value to Beauty and the Territory.” How many times, “traveling around Liguria,” Petruzzelli declares, "have I come across extraordinary works of art unknown to most. Masterpieces enclosed in small churches, in small museums, in small municipalities. The scenic beauty of this region is well known, but the artistic heritage scattered throughout the territory is also of the highest value. Finding oneself wandering around provincial streets and coming across a work by Miró or Bruegel or Parmigianino or Lucio Fontana lets one understand how all around us there is a heritage capable of helping us grow. From every point of view."

The initiative is also interesting because it fits well with the assumption that we need to move people to the works and not move the works of art, which during relocations undergo great risks and are often far from their museums (an unsustainable situation we also wrote about in one of our editorials). Space therefore is given to art, but also to music and literature, with explanations of works of art, concerts and readings, which are interwoven in a composite program that, from Ponente to Levante, from Ventimiglia to Castelnuovo Magra, involves the entire territory. Below is the detailed program (all meetings are free admission).
