In the Dolomites, an exhibition and workshop to learn how to photograph at high altitudes

During TEDxCortina it will be possible to visit the high-altitude exhibition dedicated to Olivo Barbieri. Also planned is a workshop dedicated to all enthusiasts.

On August 21, on the occasion of TEDxCortina, the Lagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti exhibition gallery will offer the public the opportunity to visit the exhibition dedicated to one of the masters of site-specific photography, Olivo Barbieri, winner of the first edition of the Lagazuoi Photo Award. The photographer’s shots, brought together in the monographic work Dolomites Project 2010, will be on display: a series of photographic images and a video, lasting twelve minutes, characterized by the same use of depth of field. Powerful and evocative images follow one another in the video, creating an in-depth narrative of Barbieri’s work, without accompanying text or words, to leave the viewer free to let their thoughts flow with the images.

The theme of TEDxCortina 2020 is Emergencies: a concept that encapsulates the idea of dynamism, responsibility, and the possibility of change through awareness and communication. These are the same priorities and values sought by the Lagazuoi Photo Award. The Dolomites immortalized by Olivo Barbieri appear far from postcard expressive codes: they transform and reveal themselves to the public in a very different perspective, far from a documentary dimension. His choice of a compelling visual language, both aesthetically and in terms of content, won over the jury chaired by Denis Curti and composed of Mario Calabresi, Nathalie Herschdorfer, Andréa Holzherr, Susanna Tamaro and Stefano Illing.

The exhibition will be open to the public until Sept. 10. On the occasion of the finissage, which will be held on Sept. 5, there will also be a workshop aimed at all photography enthusiasts. Lecturer will be Denis Curti, creator and coordinator of the Lagazuoi Photo Award, artistic director of the Casa dei Tre Oci in Venice and well-known curator at the European level.

Lagazuoi Landscape Photographic Marathon will be a day dedicated to landscape photography at high altitude, to be experienced at 2278 meters above sea level.
The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. at the Falzarego Pass valley station to access the Lagazuoi cable car, which will then take participants to high altitude. A first theoretical part, after a packed lunch and car around the neck, will be followed by outdoor practice. The best photo, awarded by a jury composed of Denis Curti, Olivo Barbieri, and Stefano?Illing, will be exhibited in the lobby of the Lagazuoi EXPO for a whole year.

The workshop is open to professionals and ordinary photography enthusiasts, with no limitations. Participants should be equipped with camera, smartphone and any additional memory cards.

Registration modalities and costs: send no later than September 3, 2020 an email containing your name, surname, tax code for individuals or VAT number and SDI code for companies or professionals, address of residence and copy of the transfer of the registration fee of € 50.00 to info@lagazuoiphotoaward.org (Bank: CORTINABANCA - Credito Cooperativo - Società Cooperativa / IBAN: EN 67 U 08511 61070 000000001380)?
