The exhibition"Marco Polo’s Journey in the Photographs of Michael Yamashita" is on view at Palazzo Blu in Pisa until July 1, 2018.
Through one of National Geographic’s greatest photographers, visitors can immerse themselves in the places Marco Polo explored: images, videos and stories that bring to life the famous journey Marco Polo undertook from Venice to the Far East on the Silk Road.
Yamashita retraced the latter’s footsteps for National Geographic, bringing to fruition a years-long reportage.
More than seventy photographs, moving images, explanatory texts, maps, audio narratives and objects from the places explored by Marco Polo are on display in the rooms of Palazzo Blu, and the figure of Rustichello da Pisa, to whom we owe the writing of Il Milione thanks to Marco Polo’s stories, is particularly highlighted.
The exhibition is curated by Marco Cattaneo and is produced for Fondazione Palazzo Blu by National Geographic with the contribution of Fondazione Pisa and the Giuseppe Tucci National Museum of Oriental Art.
