Caravaggio and Caravaggeschi: exhibition opens in Otranto


The exhibition Caravaggio and the Caravaggesque painters in southern Italy from the collection of the Roberto Longhi Foundation, curated by Maria Cristina Bandera, opens in Otranto.

Opening to the public next June 11 is the exhibition Caravaggio and the Caravaggesque painters in southern Italy from the collection of the Roberto Longhi Foundation, at the Castello Aragonese in Otranto. Until Sept. 24, works from the Longhi collection will thus move to Puglia for an exhibition curated by Maria Cristina Bandera, scientific director of the Longhi Foundation: alongside Caravaggio’s well-known painting, the Ragazzo morso da un ramarro (Boy Bitten by a Lizard), works by southern Caravaggesque painters such as Mattia Preti, José de Ribera, Battistello Caracciolo, Matthias Stom, Andrea Vaccaro and many others will be on display.

The exhibition will be open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight (ticket office closes one hour before). Cost (also includes a visit to the Aragonese Castle and a visit to the exhibition Roberto Cotroneo.
