In Bologna, the SCART exhibition-The beautiful and useful side of waste

Until Feb. 18 at Palazzo Pepoli Campogrande in Bologna, the exhibition reflecting on environmental sustainability and reuse can be visited free of charge.

Inside Palazzo Pepoli Campogrande in Bologna is a special exhibition through which visitors will be led in a playful and cheerful way to reflect on current issues such as environmental sustainability, reuse and recycling.

"SCART - The beautiful and useful side of waste" consists of an extraordinary installation called"Business Wo/men": fifteen life-size sculptures of businessmen and women created by students from the Fine Arts Academies of Bologna and Florence.

Each sculpture was created entirely out of discarded materials: so one notices men and women made out of red leather cutouts, wood, cardboard, colored absorbent cloth triangles, frozen pea packets, plastic flakes, fabric, pharmaceutical packaging supports, shoe reinforcement supports, seat belts and discarded shearling.

The crowd of business people is topped by a giant five-meter Pinocchio, which was created by Edoardo Malagigi using discarded pieces of small wooden pinocchios.

Completing the scene are four life-size wolves by Alberto Salvetti, who used newspaper pages with news about wolf dispersal, scotch tape, paper, iron and bitumen.

The SCART project, promoted by Hera Group, involved artists with different stylistic backgrounds and asked them to use their creative flair with a variety of waste materials.

The exhibition, curated by Maurizio Giani, has free admission and can be visited until Feb. 18 from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The exhibition also boasts the recommendation of Arte Fiera and Art City Bologna.
