The works of Marco Glaviano, one of Italy's most respected fashion photographers, in a virtual exhibition

Deodato Arte Gallery presents Marco Glaviano Icons, an exhibition by artist Marco Glaviano (Palermo, Italy, 1942), tracing the career of one of the world’s most esteemed Italian photographers, known for his stunning fashion photos, calendars, collaborations with glossy magazines such as Vogue America and Harper Bazaar and designers of the caliber of Giorgio Armani, but above all for photographing supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s such as Cindy Crawford, Paulina Porizkova, Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova, giving life to myths and style icons that marked an era.

The exhibition can be visited by a potentially infinite number of people, thanks to the application of virtual reality developed in-house by Deodato Arte Gallery’s computer technicians, precisely to allow the public to enjoy the works of art by admiring them in a 3D environment, from different angles, while virtually “walking” through a realistic, albeit virtual, space. Marco Glaviano Icons is located in the “virtual room” of the Deodato Arte gallery, accessible directly from www.deodato.com from June 19 to July 31.

The exhibition includes Best Seller and Unposted works by the jazz music-loving photographer, who in his nearly 50-year career has produced as many as 15 books immortalizing the most prominent figures of the international jet set. Quincy Jones, B.B. King, Whitney Houston, Gianni Agnelli and Albert of Monaco are just some of the personalities whose souls Glaviano has captured in shots of rare intensity.

Best Seller is a selection of the most iconic shots by photographer Marco Glaviano, who now lives between Milan and New York. Each photograph is printed with the fine Giclée printing technique , as indicated in the certificate of authentication. All works are limited editions, signed and numbered in pencil by the photographer.

The Unposted area collects the unpublished works of Marco Glaviano. Thanks to the new exclusive collaboration in Italy with Deodato Arte, Marco Glaviano has decided to publish from his historical archives a selection of works dedicated to the Italian market and, only upon request, to the foreign market. Each photograph is printed with the fine Giclée printing technique and all works are limited editions, signed and numbered in pencil by the photographer.

Marco Glaviano was born in Palermo, Sicily, in 1942. He studied architecture at the University of Palermo and, at this time, began to develop his interest in photography. During the same years he worked in the theater as a set designer and scenographer and joined a jazz band, his other great passion. With them, during the 1960s, he participated in numerous jazz festivals, where he began to take his first photographs of other musicians.

In 1967 he decided to pursue a career as a photographer and moved first to Rome, for a short time, then to Milan, where he opened the studio where he would live and work for 8 years.

During the early 1970s his photographs began to appear in major European fashion magazines, most notably Vogue Italia. This growing fame ultimately led him to New York, where he settled in 1975. There he first signed an exclusive contract with Vogue America and, between 1982 and 1994, with Harper Bazaar. Marco Glavian has worked in fashion and beauty for leading American and European magazines. To date, he has more than 500 covers and editorials for the most prestigious international publications to his credit. His beautiful photographs have led him to be considered one of the world’s best photographers in the fashion industry.
