Trieste, Cracking Art's colorful sculptures invade city's most significant places

Cracking Art's colorful installations invade Trieste's most significant venues until October 17, 2021, starting with the Salone degli Incanti.

Cracking Art ’s colorful sculptures invade Trieste, starting from the Salone degli Incanti and then animating the city’s most significant places. More than 120 works of different sizes have indeed arrived in the Julian capital and will remain visible to the public until October 17, 2021, on the occasion of the exhibition Incanto.

A title intended to signify the sudden appearance, as if by enchantment or magic, of surprising creatures that will take up residence in the city’s historic architecture. This is a widespread exhibition involving outdoor and indoor spaces: starting from the Salone degli Incanti, from which the exhibition takes its name, where an invasion of colorful snails will take possession of the place with a fairy-tale spirit, even the most significant points of the city will be populated with very large, brightly colored animals, transforming Trieste into an open-air art gallery.

Leaving the space of Riva Nazario Sauro, visitors are invited to take a path that will lead them from Piazza Hortis to Piazza Cavana, Piazza Verdi, Piazza della Borsa; from the Palazzo della Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste - now the headquarters of the Fondazione CRTrieste - to Piazza Ponterosso to Via delle Torri, until they reach the Hilton Hotel in Piazza della Repubblica; along the way, they will then encounter different works that invite them to visit and re-appropriate urban areas with a renewed and magical spirit.

Snails, swallows, rabbits, crocodiles, elephants, penguins, wolves and frogs become the protagonists in Trieste of a journey under the banner of nature and respect for it.

The exhibition is designed and intended to be free and outdoors, so that it can be accessible to all. Plastic is transformed and becomes a means of communication: from a simple material in common use and potentially harmful to the environment, it is shaped to become a decorative element and a source of inspiration. Cracking Art installations, a collective known for its concern for the environment, its environmental commitment and its practice of regeneration, fit in and dialogue with the history and architecture of the places that host them. Each work becomes the bearer of a message that everyone is called upon to interpret and spread.

In addition, every Sunday at 11 a.m. there will be free guided tours for groups to the exhibition, departing from the Salone degli Incanti and exploring the various installations around the city. Reservations are required.

Incanto is an exhibition of the City of Trieste, is organized by the Arthemisia Group and is curated by the Cracking Art collective.
