The Municipality of Empoli has announced a competition to award the position of “Cultural Heritage Project Expert and Museum Director” (deadline set for September 13) who will be hired on a fixed-term contract (category D, economic position D1, plus annual gross allowance of 7 thousand euros in view of the specific qualification required of the appointee and the temporary nature of the relationship, which lasts the time of the mayor’s term). The appointee will be in charge of all municipal museums: the Museum of the Collegiate Church of St. Andrew, the Glass Museum, the Civic Museum of Paleontology, the House of Pontormo and the Busoni House Museum.

A bachelor’s degree in cultural heritage (or equivalent) is required to apply, and at least five years of professional experience in directing, coordinating or managing cultural heritage projects or teaching cultural heritage in public or private institutions is required.

The director, in addition to directing the municipal museums of Empoli with carrying out technical-scientific and administrative responsibilities, will be in charge of the scientific and administrative direction of exhibitions and temporary displays, cultural heritage teaching projects for schools and the local area, research and management of external sponsorships for cultural activities and goods, relations with agencies and foundations for carrying out cultural activities and interventions on cultural heritage, and other special cultural projects.
