Windows on Art offers the opportunity to conduct a remote educational internship. The proposal is for students of the University of Genoa (up to a maximum of three).

For a new editorial project aimed at the general public (these are articles dedicated to occasional visitors to exhibitions and museums or to those who want to get closer to the themes of art and art history), our newspaper has launched an internship project aimed at students from the University of Genoa: the intern(s) will be included in this project. At the end of the internship period, the trainee(s) will have an excellent basis for assuming a career in various fields, whether in journalism, in the cultural heritage sector (e.g., as a communication officer in charge of a museum) or, in a broader perspective, in the field of communication, since he/she will be able to count on a team working according to the most up-to-date standards and collaborating with high-level professionals.

Who we are looking for: a receptive person (the editors will impart knowledge they have gained through years of training and experience in the field, and the more receptive the person, the more satisfying the experience will be for everyone), and who possesses these mandatory characteristics: excellent knowledge of art history, especially from the seventeenth to the twentieth century extremes included; excellent information literacy and the ability to distinguish between authoritative and non-authoritative sources; mental elasticity, clarity of exposition, humility and curiosity; perfect command of written Italian; great familiarity with the use of the Internet (not at the technical level, but simply at the user level: that therefore knows how to use search engines, social media, a text editor, an email sending program, and so on); good analytical and summarizing skills. Optional features: elementary knowledge of HTML language.

What the intern(s) will learn: Techniques of writing for search engines; optimization of a web page for SEO (treatment of photographs for the web, site speed control, etc.); medium/advanced level HTML language; rudiments of photo editing (cropping, setting the correct weight of a photograph for a performing site; modifying colors, saturation, etc.); basics of analyzing the positioning of a website; basics of online journalism; teamwork.

The internship will be done remotely in telecommuting mode. The proposal is aimed at students in the bachelor’s degree programs in Cultural Conservation and Humanities, and students in the master’s degree programs in Archaeology, Archaeological Heritage Management and Enhancement, Art History and Heritage Enhancement, and Historical, Archival and Library Sciences. There is time to apply until March 31 and you can do so from the appropriate link on the University of Genoa’s internship platform.
