A Picasso worth one million won for 100 euros: the winner is from Ventimiglia

A lady from Ventimiglia is the winner of the second edition of 1 Picasso for 100 euros. The ticket had been given to her by her son for Christmas.

We had reported a few days ago on the 1 Picasso for 100 euros initiative: an international online charity lottery aimed at raising funds for humanitarian development projects carried out by non-profit associations.

Up for grabs, by purchasing a ticket costing 100 euros, is an authentic painting by Pablo Picasso with an estimated value of one million euros: a Still Life made in 1921 by the Cubist painter.

The drawing took place yesterday, May 20, at Christie’s in Paris, and the winning ticket in the second edition of the online lottery belongs to a lady from Ventimiglia, Claudia Borgogno. The winner had received the ticket as a Christmas gift from her son.

More than 51,000 people bought a 100-euro ticket through the project’s website, thus raising 5.1 million euros that will go to charity. The proceeds will in fact go to water projects in some villages in Africa.
