From Vedova to Kandinsky to Klee. Ca' Pesaro is enriched with 34 new works

The Prast collection donated 34 works by great artists to the City of Venice that will enrich the collections at Ca' Pesaro.

The International Gallery of Modern Art at Ca’ Pesaro will be enriched with thirty-four new works created by great artists, thanks to the donation that the Prast collection wanted to make to the City of Venice. A donation with a total value of more than five million euros.

The collector had already made his proposal in March to donate thirty-three works from his collection to the City, adding to these a lithograph by Egon Schiele, the Manifesto for the 49th Secession exhibition executed in 1918.

The donated masterpieces include works by such masters as Paul Klee, Vasily Kandinsky, Emilio Vedova, Giorgio De Chirico, Giorgio Morandi and many others.

“This is a very important donation that we as the Junta had accepted last March and which now becomes to all intents and purposes part of the important artistic heritage of Venice. I also want to thank Mr. Prast for this further prestigious gift to the City, which demonstrates not only his great generosity but also his trust in our museums,” said Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro.

Gabriella Belli, director of the Venice Civic Museums Foundation, added, “Sincere and heartfelt thanks to the collector Prast, whom I have had the opportunity to appreciate for his great culture and passion. Museums guard the history of humanity and not just art. The generosity of donors is part of this history, and to them goes our most sincere thanks. The trust placed in our museums stems from a long practice of appreciation and good preservation of memory and works. This donation is a commitment to the future.”
