A visit to Pompeii Archaeological Park today for Prince Albert II of Monaco. Accompanied by the park’s director, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, he admired the site’s main points of interest: from the entrance in Piazza Anfiteatro he visited the Praedia di Giulia Felice, a large complex structured like an "urban villa, distinguished by large green spaces and a private spa complex.
Afterwards, along the Via dell’Abbondanza, he reached theInsula dei Casti Amanti, where, thanks to an elevated walkway, he was able to observe the typical architecture of Roman houses and the ongoing restoration work. The tour continued in Regio IX, an area involved in recent excavation campaigns, where the delegation was able to admire one of the most recent discoveries: the House of Thiasus, with its room frescoed with large figures (megalography) and the large private bath facility.
The tour ended with a visit to the House of the Vettii, and then returned via the Forum and the Theater District.
Below are some pictures.
