Theft at the Royal Palace of Caserta: two Christian Boltanski figurines stolen.

A theft occurred at the Reggia di Caserta on the night of Saturday, June 9. Two figurines exhibited at the Terrae Motus exhibition and part of the untitled work, but known as Ex voto, by French artist Christian Boltanski, an installation made using real ex votos attached to wires, were stolen. The theft occurred during the evening opening of the exhibition. Mauro Felicori, director of the Reggia di Caserta, said, “I have ordered an internal administrative investigation to understand what happened, but certainly last night’s theft is not related to any alleged shortage of custodians.”

The area of the Palace where the exhibition is on display is without surveillance cameras, as it is a temporary setup.
The theft has been reported to the Carabinieri, who are handling the investigation.
