Minister Franceschini awards 10 million euros to dance schools

A 10 million share of the Cinema and Entertainment Emergency Fund goes to private dance schools: this was established by decree by Cultural Heritage Minister Dario Franceschini.

The minister of cultural heritage, Dario Franceschini, has signed a ministerial decree to reserve a portion of the Cinema and Entertainment Emergency Fund, established by the Cura Italia decree, to support private dance schools, which are not configured as amateur sports associations or amateur sports clubs and are not part of CONI: the amount allocated for dance schools is 10 million euros.

“10 million euros,” Franceschini said, “have been earmarked to support private dance schools, which play an essential role in the training of many dancers in our country. I thank Senator Michela Montevecchi for the commitment promoted in Parliament and in the Senate Culture Committee in recognizing these realities and achieving this important result.”

Modalities and deadlines for the submission of grant applications and their processing, as well as the procedures for the allocation of grants and verifications to controls, will be later defined by the General Directorate for Entertainment through a special agreement with SIAE. However, it has already been established that private dance schools with registered offices in Italy, which are not not configured as amateur sports associations or societies, which are not under CONI, which have carried out their ordinary teaching activities for the 2019/2020 school year, in progress as of February 28, 2020, which have fulfilled in 2019 the payment of royalties’copyrights in favor of SIAE or other collective management organization for the use of musical works in dance courses, that are in good standing with their social security contribution payments, and that have not had any final convictions for violation of the rules for the protection of copyright or related rights.

Organizations that are already FUS recipients for three-year projects 2018/2020 will not be eligible. Within five days from the date of registration of the decree by the supervisory bodies, the SIAE will publish a notice on its website with the procedures and deadlines for submitting applications for grants, documentary verifications, and the allocation of grants. Dance schools will be able to apply for grants online within 10 days after the publication of the notice, using the forms prepared and published on the institutional website by the SIAE. At the end of the processing, the resources will be divided equally among the eligible beneficiaries.
