Manzoni had made this work, belonging to the well-known series of realizations with which the artist fixed natural and synthetic fibers on wooden boards (after going through a phase in which the Achromes were simply plaster-covered surfaces), all characterized by the absence of colors, in the shirt factory ofAage Damgaard, in the town of Herning, which he frequented between 1960 and 1961, at the time of his stay in Denmark.
The 1961 “Danish” Achrome, which until now had never been sold or exhibited, will first be put on display inParis, in Gallery 12 Druot, on September 21, then in London, at Shapero Modern, between November 5 and 8, and finally in Copenhagen on November 27, for a preview at Rasmussen’s .
