Charles Albert Chapel in Turin's Royal Palace reopens to the public

As of Feb. 28, the Charles Albert Chapel inside Turin's Royal Palace will once again be visible to the public after a four-month restoration

From February 28, the Charles Albert Chapel, a splendid room located inside the Royal Palace of Turin, will once again be visible to the public.

After a four-month restoration (September-December 2016), the result of a well-established collaboration between the Royal Museums and the Piedmont Regional Council aimed at the recovery and enhancement of the Royal Palace, the private Chapel of Charles Albert will reopen tomorrow, ready to be admired by visitors.

Designed in 1837 by Pelagio Palagi, the Chapel is decorated with wooden inlays, gilding and paintings. Prominent on the altar is a painting made by Palagi in 1845 depicting the Holy Family with St. John.

The director of the Royal Museums of Turin, Enrica Pagella, said this restoration was made possible thanks in part to drawings and documents from the period, recovered from the Archiginnasio Library in Bologna.
