European Photography festival returns to Reggio Emilia


In a few days the 13th edition of European Photography in Reggio Emilia will kick off: until June 17 exhibitions, meetings, workshops.

April 20-22 will see the opening days of the 13th edition of Fotografia Europea, curated by Walter Guadagnini.
The initiative, which will take place in Reggio Emilia, consists of exhibitions, meetings, performances and workshops that will be offered to the public until June 17.

Themes of this edition will be Revolutions, Rebellions, Changes and Utopias, commemorating the 50th anniversary of ’68.

Festival venues are distributed throughout the city: among them, Palazzo Magnani, where the exhibition"Sex & Revolution! Imaginary, Utopia, Liberation (1960-1977)"; Palazzo Da Mosto, which offers three exhibition projects: a tribute to Joel Meyerowitz, a great contemporary photographer; an exhibition tracing the most significant moments of the 20th century through photographic volumes; and an exhibition featuring previously unseen shots by the great fashion photographer Toni Thorimbert.
The Chiostri di San Domenico will display images by nine Iranian authors, as the host country of European Photography 2018 isIran, and a series of shots by Walter Niedermayr taken in Iran.
Banca D’Italia will host unpublished projects made especially for the festival, while Villa Zironi will pay tribute to the recently deceased Milanese artist Lorenzo Tricoli with the project"The Archive you Deserve."
The other Reggio Emilia venues will be Spazio San Rocco, the Synagogue, the Baptistery, Palazzo del vescovado, the new Spazio U30CINQUE, Via Secchi 11, Galleria Parmeggiani and Spazio Gerra.
