The Boboli Garden becomes a “garden of the senses,” with tactile and multisensory tours to discover the wonders of the park through senses other than sight. In the Upper Botany area of the Medici park, one of the most intimate and naturalistically characteristic areas of the entire Garden, special tours will be offered to the public from May 30 through Sept. 23 that will be led for the first time by sensory guides, both people with various types of disabilities visual and sighted, specially trained to accompany the public along the accessible route created in collaboration with the Culturaepiù association and theItalian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Tuscany.
The goal is to explore this area of the Boboli Gardens with a different approach. Each participant will be blindfolded and accompanied by a sensory guide to discover scents and sounds, to appreciate by touch the delicacy of the flowers, the surfaces and textures of the various natural elements they will encounter along the way. Storytelling will complement the experience with information and suggestions, supported by a special app with insights and the use of a special stick capable of detecting sensors scattered along the path. These elements will help give body and spatiality to the place, adding further excitement to this multisensory experience in the Boboli Gardens.
Visits will be held on the following days and times:
Thursday, May 30, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Monday, June 10, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Thursday, June 13, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Monday, June 17, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Thursday, June 20, 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m:45; Thursday, June 27, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Monday, Sept. 16, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Thursday, Sept. 19, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Monday, Sept. 23, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.; Thursday, Sept. 26, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
