Great success of audience for "After Canova" tour by Albericiana Academy and Finestre Sull'Arte

Great success for the special visit to the 'After Canova' exhibition in Carrara, curated by Accademia Albericiana and Finestre Sull'Arte.

The special visit to the exhibition After Canova. Paths of Sculpture in Florence and Rome (in Carrara, Palazzo Cucchiari), which took place yesterday, Saturday, July 15, and was curated by the Albericiana Academy of Carrara and Finestre sull’Arte, which is the exhibition’s official media partner. Introducing the evening was art historian Davide Lambruschi, director of the Albericiana Academy: the presentation was then followed by a talk by Professor Renato Carozzi, who introduced the historical and cultural context of the exhibition, dwelling in particular on the birth and development of the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts, which for many of the artists on display represented an important hub of artistic (and other) training and growth. Closing the first part of the evening, historian Daniele Canali gave a talk on the theme “Carrara during the Restoration” (the exhibition is strongly linked to the territory, and last night’s meeting also aimed to make these ties evident). Finally, the director of Finestre sull’Arte, Federico Diamanti Giannini, led the large audience that came to discover the masterpieces arranged on the three floors of Palazzo Cucchiari: given the high attendance, it was necessary to divide the audience into two groups.

There were many requests for a repeat performance: it is likely that a new special visit will be organized for September. In the meantime, many were among those in attendance who, on social media, relaunched images of the evening. The Dopo Canova exhibition continues at Palazzo Cucchiari. It is open daily (except Mondays) from 10 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., while Friday and Saturday hours are extended until 11:30 p.m. All info on the exhibition, hours and tickets on the official website www.canovacarrara.it. Meanwhile, the Albericiana Academy continues its initiatives aimed at discovering the city of Carrara in all its aspects. A walk through the historic center on sacred art and Marian devotion in the city is scheduled for Tuesday, 18, at 9 pm. On Friday, 28, on the other hand, an additional art-historical walk will lead the public to discover the city’s works of art and monuments.
