Naples pays homage to Picasso

From April 8 to July 10, 2017, the Capodimonte Museum in Naples and the Pompeii excavations pay homage to Picasso with "Picasso and Naples. Parade."

From April 8 to July 10, 2017, the Royal Apartment of the Capodimonte Museum in Naples will host the exhibition"Picasso and Naples. Parade."
The exhibition will focus on the direct relationship between the Catalan artist and the city of Naples.

The main protagonist of the exhibition will be the Curtain for the ballet Parade, the largest work created by Picasso (17 x 10 m), which due to its size was only exhibited on a few occasions. The idea for the ballet Parade, a circus-themed performance, took shape from a journey that Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Léonide Massine and Sergej Diagilev undertook between Naples and Pompeii in 1917, exactly 100 years ago. And it is precisely on the occasion of this anniversary that Naples pays homage to the work.
There will also be sketches for the ballet Pulcinella and puppets from the Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso para el Arte collection.

Part of the exhibition will be set up at theAntiquarium of the Pompeii Ruins, where the costumes from Parade will also be on display.
