Pisa, it will be street artist Gaia with his Tuttomondo to close the large collective on urban art

It will be New York-based street artist Gaia who will close the large group show Attitude at Palazzo Blu in Pisa dedicated to urban art. During the finissage on Saturday, April 2, she will present her solo show Tuttomondo.

It will end on Sunday, April 3, 2022, the exhibition Attitude | Graffiti writing, Street art, Neo Muralism at Palazzo Blu in Pisa, the large group show that brought together the works of forty-five urban art personalities and more than one hundred works. On the occasion of the finissage, which will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 5:30 p.m., there will be a meeting at the Palazzo Blu Auditorium with the New York-based street artist Gaia, who will close the exhibition with the installation Tuttomondo, in homage to the famous mural that Keith Haring created in the Tuscan city.

The project, curated by Gianguido Grassi, is produced by Start - Open you eyes and produced by Fondazione Pisa, under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa, the Province of Pisa, the Region of Tuscany, and the Regional Council of Tuscany, with the support of the University of Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Normale Superiore Sant’Anna.

The site-specific installation conceived by Gaia for Palazzo Blu consists of six works representing the six continents, places explored by the artist and re-proposed in a figurative key through icons that symbolize their history, culture and nature. A number of murals designed to house the six works complete the installation.

"The last piece in the series is the painting Tuttomondo that I made live for the installation at Palazzo Blu,“ said the street artist. ”This work seeks to encapsulate the incredibly broad conceptual scope of the exhibition in a synthesis of symbols representing invasion and virality. The globe is at the center of the composition with a bite taken out of its body like the apple from the mythological story of Adam and Eve’s genesis. Surrounding the earth are color electron microscope images of viruses, a ring of invasive flowers that have inadvertently spread from different continents through travel and trade, and finally a series of airplanes, the fundamental emblem of globalization."

Andrew Pisacane, aka Gaia, is not the first time he has tried his hand at art in Pisa; in fact, he has already created striking murals in the city. He often depicts themes of nature and animals in his works and often addresses the historical, anthropological and social narrative of the contexts in which he makes his creations.

The major exhibition dedicated to Keith Haring, visited by more than 75,000 visitors, is also still running at Palazzo Blu: it has been extended to Monday, April 18, 2022.
