From September 21 to October 27, 2019, Padua will host the first edition of the international photography festival Photo Open Up

The first edition of Photo Open Up, International Festival of Photography, will involve the entire city of Padua from September 21 to October 27, 2019 with exhibitions and events dedicated to the enhancement of photography as an extraordinary tool for investigation, expression and communication. Conceived and designed by the City of Padua Department of Culture and Arcadia Arte with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo and the artistic direction of Carlo Sala (curator and lecturer at the Master in Photography of theUniversityIUAV of Venice), the new international festival will explore photography from the nineteenth century to the current scene under the theme Dialogues and Conflicts, bringing to the view of the general public such names as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus, Robert Mappelthorpe, David LaChapelle, Gabriele Basilico, Mussat- Sartor and many others.

The event is spread over a month with a program made up of exhibitions, meetings, round tables, workshops and appointments that wish to network with the entire urban fabric, emphasizing the richness of the city’s cultural and architectural heritage. In fact, the festival will enter the main exhibition venues including: Musei Civici agli Eremitani, Palazzo Zuckermann, Galleria Cavour, Palazzo Moroni, Palazzo Angeli, Museo Antoniano and the Cathedral of the Ex-Macello.
