Andante: Alex Majoli's photography exhibition at the MAR in Ravenna

Ravenna's MAR will be the site of Andante, Alex Majoli's photographic exhibition investigating the human condition and the darker elements of society.

The MAR - Museo d’Arte della Città di Ravenna hosts from April 15 to June 17, 2018 the exhibition Andante by Ravenna photographer Alex Majoli, a member of theMagnum Photos Agency.

An exhibition that will cross the period between 1985 and 2018 to dissect the human condition and the darkest elements of society, central themes of Majoli’s photographs.

A path that will be on the edge of reality and theatrical representation, human behavior and acting in places where the human condition is questioned.
The exploration of the theatricality present in everyday life will lead to the end of the exhibition.

In depicting the theatrical dynamics of life, in which human actions seem to take inspiration from spectacle, Majoli acts as a provocative artist by accentuating the drama of daily routine with the use of artificial lights. His photos become scenes in which people, through their “life/performance,” express themselves in what becomes an unspoken film set or theatrical stage.

The exhibition is curated by Alex Majoli and is organized by City of Ravenna - Department of Culture and MAR Ravenna.
