From April 18 to August 17, 2025, MAXXI in Rome hosts the exhibition Something in the Water curated by Oscar Tuazon and Elena Motisi.
Water becomes a common thread between artistic languages belonging to different generations and contexts: a fluid, ever-changing element that belongs to everyone and no one.
The exhibition presents a new, unpublished production and constitutes a further chapter in the Water School project conceived by Oscar Tuazon. It is an initiative intended to be both artistic and educational, investigating the issues of access to land, water resources and infrastructure, proposing a transversal approach based on the creation of places of encounter and collaboration.
On display are works by artists Lita Albuquerque, Saif Azzuz, Matthew Barney, Christo, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Torkwase Dyson, Leslie Hewitt, Nancy Holt, Pavlo Makov, Virginia Overton, Marjetica Potrč, Ugo Rondinone, Peter Sandbichler, Anna Sew Hoy, and Oscar Tuazon himself.
