At Palazzo Fava the "suspended ticket" to visit Michelangelo

Fondazione Carisbo and Opera Laboratori, in collaboration with ASP Città di Bologna, offer visitors to Palazzo Fava to donate admission to the exhibition "Michelangelo and Bologna" to people in socially fragile conditions.

Palazzo Fava(Bologna) kicks off the suspended ticket project, an initiative designed to extend access to culture and make the museum a more inclusive space. Promoted by Fondazione Carisbo and Opera Laboratori, in collaboration with ASP Città di Bologna, the initiative allows visitors to the Michelangelo and Bologna exhibition to purchase an additional ticket to be donated to people in situations of fragility, particularly unaccompanied foreign minors, nuclei in reception and families in the Vesta project. The stated goal is to encourage access to art evenfor those who, for economic or social reasons, face obstacles in cultural participation.

The exhibition, dedicated to the young Michelangelo’s two sojourns in Bologna, provides the ideal context for initiating a dialogue of inclusion. Michelangelo arrived in Bologna when he was little more than 19 years old, coming from a Florence marked by political tensions, and found hospitality with the patrician Giovan Francesco Aldrovandi. The artist’s biographical journey reflects experiences of disorientation, responsibility and the search for one’s place in the world, themes that resonate with the stories of many of the young people sheltered in city facilities today. Donated tickets will provide access to dedicated guided tours led by museum staff and cultural mediators.

During these visits, exhibition content will be adapted to the participants’ backgrounds, emphasizing universal values such as resilience, discovery of talent, relationship with power and desire for growth. In this way, artistic enjoyment also becomes an opportunity for dialogue, discussion and support for building social ties. The initiative is part of the cultural project Genus Bononiae, promoted by Fondazione Carisbo and implemented in collaboration with Opera Laboratori and ASP Città di Bologna. The suspended ticket aims to reach a wide and diverse audience, making the museum an open and participatory space. The aim then is to transform the visit into an act of shared welcome, capable of combining culture and solidarity.

With more than 3,400 visitors registered in the first two weeks, the exhibition shows strong interest in the initiative and opens up the possibility of involving an even wider audience. To further encourage participation, during the Christmas period the exhibition will be open every day, with detailed hours available on the official Genus Bononiae website.
