Aurelio Amendola's shots dedicated to Marino Marini on display.

From July 14 to September 10, 2017, an exhibition in Pistoia will present images that the great photographer Aurelio Amendola dedicated to sculptor Marino Marini.

The Marino Marini Foundation pays tribute to the great sculptor by presenting in an exhibition the shots that the famous photographer Aurelio Amendola dedicated to him.

Aurelio Amendola’s images will be on display from July 14 to Sept. 10 at the Palazzo del Tau in Pistoia: the photographer chose to almost always immortalize the sculptor alongside his works.

The two met for the first time in 1966, on the occasion of Marini’s major exhibition at Palazzo Venezia in Rome, while two years later they met again in Forte dei Marmi, where they continued an artistic collaboration that lasted until the last years of Marini’s life. One of the symbolic images of their association is the one in which the sculptor appears next to a white horse on the beach of Forte dei Marmi.

"Marino in the Image of Aurelio Amendola (1968-1975)" will feature mainly shots where the sculptor is at work and others that depict him in his everyday life. A double exhibition that documents Marini’s work and daily life and testifies to the art of a photographer who was able to tell the story of art, particularly sculpture, through his shots.
