About 60 author’s plates celebrate superheroes and some of the world’s most beloved fantasy characters, including Spiderman, the Avengers, Thanos, Captain America, Batman, but not only: there are many characters born from the creative genius of Lucio Parrillo and these will find space and life among the halls of the Marca, in the presence of the author.

Lucio Parrillo, born in Catanzaro in 1974, is today one of the most important illustrators on the Italian art scene, who is also highly appreciated abroad, particularly in France, Germany and the USA. A child of art, he is known not only for his covers, but also for fine art works with an unmistakable style.

And that’s not all: his art also finds a place in the world of video games, thanks to his collaboration with Konami, and in the sector of collectible card games, in which he cooperates with Wizard of the Coast.

In more than twenty years he has exhibited in the main international festivals dedicated to illustration: San Diego, New York, Essen, Erlangen, Angoulême, Rome, Lucca. And now also in Catanzaro, his city.

The exhibition is organized by the Carpe Diem association, president Raffaele Scarfone, project manager Graziella Cirillo, in collaboration with theCatanzaro Academy of Fine Arts, in particular the School of Illustration, and under the institutional patronage of the Presidency of the Regional Council of Calabria, the Province of Catanzaro, the City of Catanzaro, the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia, and FIPE Confcommercio Calabria Centrale.

The exhibition is curated byABA Catanzaro’s Giovambattista Barberio and Lorenzo Colelli, who will coordinate about 50 students in the set-up, photographic documentation and audiovisual compartment.

"We thought of this exhibition at a special time of the year, the Christmas season, to bring as many people as possible and of all age groups closer to the beautiful and famous illustrations of Lucio Parrillo, whom I have known since my university days and whose name today is among the top ones for Marvel and Warner Bros, an all-Catanzaro pride. We are expecting not only a throng of comic fans, but also many families, curious people, art admirers," is what Raffaele Scarfone, organizer of the event, says.

“For about 20 years I have been involved in entertainment, I have organized events of various kinds and under various roles, but this is the first time I have ventured into an art exhibition and I do it with great enthusiasm to celebrate one of the precious sons of our land. It is indeed an honor for us to organize Lucio Parrillo’s first exhibition in his and our city, Catanzaro,” are the words of project manager Graziella Cirillo, an advocate of the initiative, which also involved schools in the initiative.
