The Hall of the Gothic Palace in Piacenza hosts from December 10, 2022 to February 26, 2023 the experiential exhibition entitled Egypt Unveiled. The protagonists are important Egyptian artifacts from the 21st Dynasty (1070 B.C.-900 B.C.E.) from the famous Deir el Bahari Hideout, owned by theArt and History Museum in Brussels. Produced by theEuropean Institute of Restoration, in collaboration with the Art & History Museum of Brussels and the Municipal Administration of Piacenza, the exhibition displays important Egyptian artifacts including sarcophagi, mummies and objects from the funerary trousseaus from the A&HM in Brussels and some important Italian museums, such as the MANN in Naples.

These artifacts concentrate all the fascination associated with Ancient Egypt, its world of myths and beliefs, and the adventurous epic of ancient grave robbers and early archaeologists.

The public will therefore have the opportunity to admire these finds and will also be able to witness live the restoration of some of the sarcophagi thanks to the installation, within the exhibition itinerary, of the EUROPA Expositive Laboratory Module, a sixteen-meter-long, highly technological crystal laboratory made by the European Institute of Restoration for public interventions. Winner of the Visit Brussels Awards in the New Concept category, this state-of-the-art laboratory allows visitors to observe live the work of the team of restorers led by Teodoro Auricchio, among the top international experts in the field of wood restoration.

The exhibition also includes a series of side activities, such as guided tours, educational workshops and lectures.
