Giotto's Campanile and the Mona Lisa in LEGO style: a major exhibition on the iconic bricks kicks off in Florence

The Museo degli Innocenti in Florence is hosting from October 13, 2021 to January 31, 2022 I love LEGO - Florence: a major exhibition dedicated to the world of the iconic colored bricks with site-specific reproductions of monuments and works of the Tuscan capital.

From October 13, 2021 to January 31, 2022, the Museo degli Innocenti in Florence will host I love LEGO - Florence. On this occasion, the museum’s works will be in dialogue with the temporary exhibition spanning more than 2,000 square meters of exhibition space inside the century-old institution committed to welcoming children and defending their rights. Aimed at everyone from toddlers to families and enthusiasts, the exhibition creates a link between the world of children, the past and the contemporary.

The event is intended to be an emotional journey through reproductions of scenery, monuments and architectural works created with the very famous colored bricks that all children have played with. Supported by many activities designed for all age groups, I love LEGO presents, among the seven dioramas created by a group of collectors among the most important in Europe, also site-specific reproductions signed by Luca Petraglia of two iconic monuments of the city: the facade of the Basilica of Santa Croce and Giotto ’s Campanile of Florence Cathedral. And that’s not all: there will also be a selection of canvases inspired by great masterpieces of art history reinterpreted and transformed into LEGO little men by Roman artist Stefano Bolcato; among them the Mona Lisa. Then again, comic vignettes and installations by the creators of LEGOlize, the humor page born in 2016 where comedy becomes art. Finally, a character hunt focusing on major characters revisited over the years by LEGO such as Harry Potter and Darth Vader, Batman and Homer Simpson.

The I love LEGO exhibition is organized under the patronage of the City of Florence, the Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Istituto degli Innocenti, the exhibition is produced and organized by In Your Event and Piuma in collaboration with Arthemisia. The exhibition is made possible thanks to some of the largest private collectors and is not directly sponsored by LEGO.
