In Arezzo an exhibition on Giorgio Vasari: Hope exhibited to the public for the first time

From June 8 to September 9, 2018, Arezzo is hosting the exhibition Giorgio Vasari between Venice and Arezzo. Hope and Other Stories from the Ceiling of the Corner-Spinelli Palace.

The exhibition Giorgio Vasari between Venice and Arezzo is scheduled from June 8 to September 9, 2018, at the Casa Vasari Museum in Arezzo. Hope and Other Stories from the Ceiling of Palazzo Corner-Spinelli: on display for the first time to the public is theAllegory of Hope, one of the compartments that the great Giorgio Vasari (Arezzo, 1511 - Florence, 1574) painted in 1542 in Venice for Palazzo Corner-Spinelli. The painting, recently acquired by the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice and restored, will be reunited in Arezzo with the panel that originally accompanied it, the Suicide of Judas, kept at Casa Vasari since 1980.

The exhibition then reconstructs the complex and troubled story of the ceiling in Palazzo Corner-Spinelli through a rich educational support supplemented by a video that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the complex iconography of Vasari’s masterpiece. Still, the exhibition also features a section on goldsmithing in the second half of the 20th century, inspired by Renaissance jewelry.

The exhibition, organized by the Casa Vasari Museum in collaboration with the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, opens daily (except Tuesdays, closing day) from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets: full 5 euros, reduced 2.50. Cumulative tickets can also be purchased: Casa Vasari + Basilica of San Francesco and exhibition + National Archaeological Museum 16 euros full and 10.50 reduced, Casa Vasari + Basilica of San Francesco + National Archaeological Museum 13 euros full and 7.50 reduced.
